Gran Turismo 7 PS5 PS4

Gran Turismo 7 is undeniably a fantastic racing game, and the best the series has been in a long time. However, some fans feel that the game's payout of Credits โ€” the in-game currency โ€” is rather stingy, especially after a recent patch that cut back some of the higher paying events. When you also consider the online woes the game's suffered lately, it can't have been a fun time at Polyphony Digital.

Speaking of the studio, it's taken to the PlayStation Blog today to lay out its plans for Credit rewards in the game. Basically, after listening to all the feedback, the team is rebalancing the game to be overall much more generous.

"Thank you for your continued support and feedback on Gran Turismo 7, your voices have not gone unheard," writes Kazunori Yamauchi. By way of an apology, all players who log into GT7 before 25th April will receive 1 million Credits as a goodwill gesture. That's not where it ends, though โ€” a big patch arriving in April will make the following adjustments to the in-game economy:

  • Increase rewards in the events in the latter half of the World Circuits by approximately 100% on average.
  • Addition of high rewards for clearing the Circuit Experience in all Gold/All Bronze results.
  • Increase of rewards in Online Races.
  • Include a total of eight new one-hour Endurance Race events to Missions. These will also have higher reward settings.
  • Increase the upper limit of non-paid credits in player wallets from 20M Cr. to 100M Cr.
  • Increase the quantity of Used and Legend cars on offer at any given time.

Essentially, the game will give you more Credits across the board, lessening the emphasis on microtransactions and rewarding continued play.

Additionally, some "near-term" updates in the pipeline will make further improvements to the game's rewards, including the ability to sell cars.

"We want to thank you for your continued patience and valuable feedback as we grow and evolve GT7 to make it as enjoyable and rewarding for as many players as possible," Kaz says. "We always want to keep communication lines open with our community so that we can work together to build the best racing experience possible."
